ISAIAH
Monday, May 20 was the final day of the 2024 Minnesota legislative session. Some justice-focused policy actions were taken, but others will require our advocacy in the 2025 session. Deadline for this article to be submitted to the church office was noon on that date so I can’t provide a full wrap-up. Watch for that in the June Herald.
ISAIAH’s focus now shifts to the election process. If you are not registered to vote at your current address, take that action now either through the Secretary of State’s website (sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/register-to-vote/) or in person at the City Clerk’s office in Northfield, at the Office for Elections at the Rice County office building in Faribault, or at the facility in your County. Those Northfield residents who live in Dakota County, you are still served at the Northfield City Clerk’s office.
The 2024 primary for city officers, school board members, township officers and local ballot questions and other state and national officers will be August 13. You can vote in person or by mail beginning June 28. To vote absentee by mail, apply through the website or at the offices listed above.
As you consider whom you will support in this primary, reflect on your faith values and pay attention to the faith values presented by those vying to be elected officials.
